Test your keyboard speed in seconds
- Pick a duration — 5 or 10 seconds is the fairest comparison for most people.
- Press Start typing, then hit any keys as fast and steadily as you can.
- Every full press counts, letters or not; held keys count once because key repeat is ignored.
- The timer stops automatically at zero — read presses and presses per second.
- Run at least three rounds and keep the best as your reference.

Keyboard-speed questions
Does it matter which keys I press?
No: every full down-and-up counts the same. Alternating two keys is fastest; that is why this measures raw speed, not typing skill.
Why does holding a key not raise my score?
Operating systems repeat held keys, which would fake the result. Like the Spacebar Test, only real presses score.
What is a good keyboard score?
Most people land between 3 and 6 presses per second in 10 seconds mashing two keys. Above 8 is rare — compare rounds of the same duration on the same keyboard.
Do you record which keys I press?
No. The page counts presses and ignores which key it was — key names never leave your browser and are never stored.
