How to train typing speed and accuracy
- Choose a timed test (15, 30 or 60 seconds) or finish 25 or 50 words. The words match this page's language. Press Start, then type inside the box; timing begins with the first character.
- The prompt marks correct and incorrect characters as you type. Use Backspace to fix mistakes. Pasting is disabled. Switching away pauses the clock and requires you to resume; idle time never improves your score.
- Correct WPM is the number of characters left correct at the end, divided by five and scaled to one minute. Raw WPM counts every character you entered, including corrections. Accuracy counts the proportion of keys pressed correctly when entered, so a fixed typo still matters.
- The result separates wrong keypresses, errors still in the text and backspaces. Select Practice my missed letters to get a new set biased toward the target letters you mistyped.
- Results stay on this device when storage is available. A challenge link repeats the words and settings, without sharing your answer or personal score.
Typing test questions
Is one word always five letters?
For WPM, one standard word equals five characters, including spaces. The displayed practice words can be shorter or longer. Correct WPM and raw WPM use different character totals.
Why didn't Backspace erase my error?
Accuracy and Wrong keys reflect the keypress when it happened. Backspace can fix the visible text and improve Correct WPM, while the earlier mistake remains in the session count.
Does the timer keep running in another tab?
No. It pauses when this page loses focus, clears active timing and waits for Resume. Only active practice time is counted.
Can friends compare a challenge?
Share the challenge link to give them the same word order and length. The link contains no typed content, score or account. Results on different devices and input methods may not be directly comparable.
