Measure your scroll speed in seconds
- Pick a duration — 10 seconds is the fairest comparison for most people.
- Press Start scrolling, then scroll up and down inside the box as fast as you can.
- Both directions count: the score is total ticks per second.
- The timer starts on the first scroll and stops automatically at zero.
- Run at least three rounds and keep the best as your reference.

What counts as one scroll tick?
One tick is one wheel notch, or 50 pixels of smooth scrolling. Touchpads have no notches, so distance is converted — that keeps wheels and pads comparable.
What is a good scroll score?
Most people land between 3 and 8 ticks per second with a notched wheel in 10 seconds. Free-spin wheels go much higher — compare wheels of the same kind.
Why does my trackpad score differently?
Trackpads scroll by finger distance, not notches, and systems accelerate them. The 50-pixel rule keeps it fair, but a wheel and a pad are still different sports.
How is the rate calculated here?
Ticks divided by seconds: 60 ticks in 10 seconds equal 6 ticks per second. Short rounds inflate the number, so prefer 10 seconds or more for comparisons.
