Block Balance

Rules and controls
← → move · ↓ soft drop · ↑/X rotate · Z rotate left · C/Shift hold · Space hard drop · P/Esc pause
Hold the move buttons to repeat. Rotation, hold and hard drop happen once per press.
Rows: 100/300/500/800 × level. Soft/hard drop: 1/2 per cell. Consecutive clears add 50 × combo × level. T-spins, back-to-back difficult clears and perfect clears add bonuses. Level rises every ten rows; gravity speeds up. Lock delay: 500 ms, at most 15 grounded movement/rotation resets.
Balance = sum of (2 × column − 9) for every settled block, with columns 0–9. Only completed placements count; crossing ±64 three times in a row ends Balance mode. Full rows are removed before checking. No penalty in Classic mode.
How to play Block Balance
- Choose Balance or Classic, and one to four local players. Each person plays the same seeded piece sequence from an empty board.
- Move, rotate and fit the seven four-square shapes. A complete row disappears; prevent blocks from reaching the spawn area. The ghost outline previews the landing position.
- Use hold once per falling piece, inspect the five upcoming shapes and use soft or hard drop. Keyboard and large touch controls perform the same actions.
- In Balance mode, horizontal placement matters: blocks farther from the center pull harder. Beyond ±64 for three consecutive placements, the base gives way. Return within the range to reset the warning.
- The level rises every ten rows. Pausing, leaving the tab or losing focus stops gravity and active time. Results show actual score, rows and time, not a skill percentile.
- Pass the device for the next player or share the sequence. This repeats pieces and rules, not live multiplayer. Classic and Balance results are kept separate.
Block Balance questions
Does the balance rule really change the game?
Yes. An overloaded side for three consecutive placements ends the run, even when the stack has room. Opposite-side placements can restore stability. The warning is evaluated only after locking and clearing rows.
Can I play without the new rule?
Yes. Choose Classic before starting. Seven-piece bags, hold, next previews, rotations, line clearing and increasing gravity remain available.
Is this an official Tetris product?
No. Block Balance is an independent falling-block game with its own visuals and optional balance mechanic, without affiliation or original game assets.
How are bonus points calculated?
Normal row clears earn 100, 300, 500 or 800 times the current level. T-spins earn 400/800/1200/1600 for 0–3 rows; mini spins 100/200/400 for 0–2. Consecutive difficult clears multiply their base points by 1.5. Perfect clears add 800/1200/1800/2000 times level for 1–4 rows. Combo and drop points are additional.
