Bleed or IPS glow?
- Backlight bleeding: bright patches, usually at edges or corners, that stay put when you move your head.
- IPS glow: a silvery haze that shifts or fades as you change viewing angle. Normal on IPS panels.
Spot backlight bleeding in a dark room
- Turn the lights off, open the black screen and set brightness to your usual night level.
- Look at edges and corners from your normal sitting distance and angle.
- Click each glowing zone to rate it, then compare bleed spots with shifting IPS glow.
Backlight questions
What exactly is backlight bleeding?
It is light leaking around the edges or corners of LCD panels where the backlight escapes past the frame. It shows best on a full black image in a dark room and never moves when you tilt your head.
How do I tell it apart from IPS glow?
Move your head side to side. Bleeding stays fixed in the same corner; IPS glow is a silvery wash that moves or fades with the viewing angle and is considered normal on IPS technology.
Can a website fix bleeding?
No. Lowering brightness can hide mild cases, and loosening an overtight frame sometimes helps on monitors, but strong uneven bleeding is a hardware trait to claim under warranty.
